Cleaning Instructions
Honeycomb Cell Shades – The Honeycomb fabric is easy to care for. Regular dusting with a feather duster or vacuum cleaner brush is recommended. Most stains can be blotted with a damp sponge and mild detergent. IMPORTANT: DO NOT IMMERSE HEADREALIN WATER. When and if damp, raise shade tightly to re-crisp pleats. Before using anything stronger than mild detergent and lukewarm water, test an unobstructive corner of the shade. If you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call.
Woven Wood Window Shades – May be cleaned by vacuuming.
Pleated Shades – Remove and lay the shade on a flat surface. If the shade is dusty, vacuum with an upholstery attachment. To clean fingerprints or soiled spots, use aerosol spray foam upholstery cleaner such as woolite or scotch guard cleaners. Spray the foam cleaner over the area to be cleaned. Immediately scrub the area with a clean damp sponge) back and fourth gently in the direction parallel to the pleats in fabric) until stains are removed. Be careful not to crush or wrinkle fabric. Remove access water from fabrics by patting with a clean dry towel. Hang only when shade is completely dry. Frequent cleaning may tend to remove the fullness and body of the pleats fabric. DO NOT use strong detergent or spot removers. Dry cleaning is NOT recommended.
Aluminum Blinds – For Light cleaning use a static charged duster, taking care not to push onto the cords running through the mini blind. You can also use a light wet cloth on aluminum blinds, Take care not to use to much water as this will cause the dust to run and streak your blind.
Horizontal Blinds – The best way to clean Fauxwood or Wood is to wipe with a duster or a soft cloth. You may also use a vacuum with the brush attachment. If there is stains that are not easily removed with a dust cloth or vacuum you can use a damp rag, but make sure you dry the blinds right away. Extended exposure to moisture may damage the Wood blinds.
Roller Shades – Sheer weave Fabrics are easy to maintain. Sheer weave shades require occasional vacuuming with a soft brush attachment or washing with mild soap. Roller shades can be cleaned with a sponge or damp cloth and a soapy solution. Gently wipe or blot the stain from the fabric. Allow Sheer weave fabric to completely air dry before rising.
Vertical Blinds – Fabric Vanes need periodic vacuuming; this will keep the fabric fresh. Spot clean any stains by applying a mild soap and water solution with a sponge or cloth. For heavy stains, an upholstery cleaning solution may be used. Clean a small area in an inconspicuous to test for color fastness. PVC vanes, just apply a mild soap and cold or warm water solution with a soft cloth or sponge. Abrasive or strong cleaners may scratch or mark the vane’s surface. Dry with a cloth towel to avoid water marks. Clean one vane at a time, Detach one vane, and place on a flat surface, clean and reattach vane. NEVER: Soak, use hot water, machine wash or dry, use a solvent cleaner, dry, hang or use over a clothesline, and NEVER wring or crush vanes to dry.
Roman Shades – To Prevent serious soiling, you can regularly dust the shade with a feather duster or use a vacuum cleaner on a low power. If there are stains, we would advise that you remove these as quickly as possible with a soft sponge and Luke warm water and if needed, a non-synthetic washing powder.
Shutters – Lightly vacuum with an upholstery brush. For minor soiled areas, clean with warm water using a clean cloth. Dry a second clean cotton cloth. For more severe soiling, use a mild detergent diluted to a 5% solution with room temperature water. Clean with a cotton cloth.
